Company History
In the early 1990s, independent geological consultant Dr Nick Archibald began collaborations with the CSIRO in Australia on a project called "Fractal Graphics".
By the mid 1990s Fractal Graphics was operating as an independent geological consultancy specialising in 3D modeling, structural mapping and 3D software development.
In March 2001 Fractal Graphics claimed first prize in the prestigious GoldCorp Challenge. This catapulted Fractal Graphics into the spotlight in Canada.
In July 2002 Fractal Graphics demerged into two entities, with Fractal Technologies continuing the software development, and the geological consultants becoming an exploration company called Geoinformatics Exploration.
On 14th February 2005, Geoinformatics Exploration Inc was formed, and listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX-V:GXL). The company was formed by successfully completing a reverse take-over of TSX-V company MinRes Resources Inc. At the time of the take-over, the market capitalisation of GXL was C$17.64M.
