Database Design

Good decisions require good information and the design of the database is the first step in ensuring that this information is delivered to the decision makers. Geoinformatics is at the forefront of mineral industry database design. Project databases for drill and sample data are compliant with international industry reporting standards and are fully auditable. Where Geoinformatics leads is in the integration of relational (Oracle, SQL Server) and object-oriented (FracSIS and SpatialDataServer) databases.

Through the design of the databases and metadata complex 3D geometries can be stored alongside traditional tabular data. Built-in intelligence enables detailed analysis, tracking and distribution of all spatial and non-spatial geoscience data. Collectively the databases comprise the Geoinfobank - a global resource of geoscience information.

The database design process is managed by Peter Wilson.
